PerformanceÂ
Under the hood of the new Kia Sportage is a standard 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine that's paired with an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic®. With this powertrain, the Sportage delivers 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque as well as a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. For the most thrilling drive, choose the Sportage SX Turbo that comes with - you guessed it - a 2.0-liter turbo engine. Paired with the same six-speed automatic, the Sportage increases output to 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to fuel efficiency, the standard engine offers up 30 mpg on the highway while the turbo engine dips only slightly to 28 mpg on the highway.[1] All models come with standard front-wheel drive, but you can upgrade to the Dynamax™ all-wheel drive system for increased traction and control, especially on slippery roads.
Design
Inside and out, the 2022 Sportage offers a unique design. The exterior can be painted in one of six colors, like the vibrant Hyper Red or the cool Pacific Blue. In the front, the matte black and bright chrome grille is flanked by projector beam headlights with High Beam Assist. As you move to the back of the SUV, you're greeted by athletic lines and the 17-inch alloy wheels. If that's not enough style for you, the Sportage Nightfall Edition elevates the outside with an all-black grille, special badging, black front and rear bumpers, black skid plates, black roof rails, and more sleek accents. On the inside, the Sportage offers seven seating options, from simple black cloth to luxurious beige leather and more.
