The 2022 Kia Sorento is available at eight trim levels: LX, S, X-Line S AWD, EX, X-Line EX AWD, SX, SX Prestige, and X-Line SX Prestige AWD.

Exterior 

The Sorento received a complete redesign in 2021, giving it a more modern appearance to match the Kia lineup. It features angular fenders and sharp LED headlights in the front while strong character lines sweep across the body of the vehicle. Depending on the model you choose, you can paint your 2022 Sorento in one of eight colors, including unique options like Aruba Green and Sapphire Blue.

Across the new Sorento lineup, you can add various rugged yet functional features like roof rails, power-folding outside mirrors, front fog lights, and large 20-inch alloy wheels. An additional exterior highlight is the Smart Power Liftgate, standard on EX models and above, that automatically opens when you have your Smart Key on you.

Performance

The standard engine under the hood of the Sorento is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and gets as high as 29 mpg on the highway for FWD models.[1] Once you reach the Sorento EX model and above, you'll have a turbocharged version of that engine under the hood. With that engine and the "wet type" version of the eight-speed automatic, you can expect to get a hearty 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, highway fuel economy stays the same on FWD models at up to 29 mpg with the turbo engine.[1]

Safety

The technology found in the new Kia Soul extends beyond infotainment to the many safety systems that give you added peace of mind. For starters, the Soul has an Iso-Structure™ made of high-strength steel that is secured by active features like Vehicle Stability Management, the Traction Control System, and Electronic Stability Control. 

Depending on the model you choose, you could equip your 2022 Soul with some of the Kia Drive Wise suite of driver-assist features. This includes things like Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning. Other helpful features include Driver Attention Warning - which monitors the driver's alertness - and Smart Cruise Control, which automatically adjusts your speed to safely match the vehicle ahead of you.

2022 Sorento Hybrid

If you want a more efficient version of the 2022 Sorento, consider the SUV's hybrid alternative. The 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid is available at two trim levels. Both have a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a Full Parallel Hybrid System and a six-speed automatic transmission. That generates a combined 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. FWD fuel efficiency comes in at 39 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 37 mpg combined.[1]

Technology

The gas-powered 2022 Sorento comes with a wealth of advanced tech features to suit your everyday needs. For starters, the 8-inch touch-screen display is where you'll find helpful amenities like Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, Bluetooth®, and controls for the six-speaker audio system. Once you move beyond the base trim to the Sorento S, you'll get a larger 10.25-inch touch-screen display with Kia Connect remote connectivity, SiriusXM® satellite radio, navigation, multi-device audio streaming, and voice recognition.

Other standard and available features include three USB charging outlets throughout the cabin (with the addition of two second-row outlets on the S trim and above), two 12-volt power outlets, a wireless phone charger, and the 12-speaker Bose® Premium Audio System that is standard on the SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige AWD models.

Interior

In addition to its tech, the 2022 Sorento's cabin is also comfortable and convenient. The 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with two-way power lumbar support, standard on S and above, is ideal for long drives. These models also come with heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a leather-wrapped gear shift handle, dual-zone automatic climate control, and SynTex seating material. 

Across the lineup, you can also elevate the interior with open pore wood graphics, a metal texture accent trim, or chrome door handles. However, the standard technical embossing is still quite elegant, as are the metal paint door handles. When it comes to space, the Sorento offers available captain's chairs to allow for easy third-row access.

Right from the start, the new Kia Sorento is exceptionally safe.
